Virtual Summit 2020
The PHA 2020 Virtual Summit marked the first time PHA held its annual event online. The event convened leaders in the food and wellness industries to share ideas and participate in important conversations around food and health equity. The condensed, virtual format allowed PHA to expand the reach of its message to audiences and communities who normally would not attend an in-person Summit.
Many critical insights were shared during the two-hour event. NBA All-Star Chris Paul joined Ethan Brown, Founder of Beyond Meat, for an exploration of the benefits of veggie-forward eating. And a panel featuring Jason Reiser, Executive Vice President of Dollar General, Gordon Reid, President of Stop & Shop, Carla Balakgie, President and CEO of NAMA, and Allison Ellison, Senior Director of Walmart U.S. discussed the varied ways that food retail is making healthier choices more available and affordable.
The 2020 Virtual Summit also included the announcement of the COVID-19 Fresh Food Fund, with initial funding from Novo Nordisk and in partnership with the Produce Marketing Association, and six new Shaping Early Palates partners.
