Committed to provide $500,000 in Explore Fund grants to nonprofit organizations in 2016 to connect youth and communities of all backgrounds to the outdoors in meaningful ways. The North Face Explore Fund grants provide access for youth, including those in underserved communities and those with disabilities, to participate in outdoor activities such as skiing, camping, hiking and climbing.

    Progress To Date

    In 2016, The North Face awarded 46 grants worth a total of $500,000 to 45 unique nonprofit agencies through The North Face's Explore Fund. The North Face Explore Fund is designed to encourage outdoor activities and develop an appreciation of the outdoors. Collectively, the grant-funded programs reached 37,687 people, 31,577 of which were youth. Grantees estimated that more than 50% of the youth reached were low-income and 2% of youth reached had adaptive needs.

“In 2016, The North Face awarded 45 nonprofits with grants totaling $500,000. These organizations provided meaningful outdoor experiences and environmental stewardship opportunities for underserved youth, veterans, people with disabilities, and others who sought first experiences in the outdoors. The grantees completed their projects by the summer of 2017 and reported serving more than 31,000 youth during the 2016 grant year.”
