    Progress To Date

    In 2016, Walgreens submitted a list of stores that began offering fruits and vegetables between June 2013 and March 2016. The list included 19 stores that were located in or around a food desert. Each of these stores offered whole fresh, prepared fresh, and/or frozen fruits or vegetables. To date, Walgreens began offering fruits or vegetables in 319 stores in or around a food desert. It has made 32% progress towards its goal of expanding access to fruits and vegetables in at least 1,000 stores located in or around food deserts.

    The total number of low-access people served by the 19 Walgreens stores offering expanded fruits and vegetables is 64,054 people. The total number of low-access/low-income people served by Walgreens stores offering expanded fruits and vegetables is 34,288 people.
