Partner Statement

“Florida International University (FIU) had an exciting year as we continued to meet our PHA guidelines. Our Wellness and Recreation Center is currently undergoing an expansion that will open in Fall 2017. The expanded facility will include an additional 60,000 square feet, that incorporates an indoor jogging/walking track and designated areas for martial arts, yoga, and specialized fitness.

"The Healthy Living Program, in collaboration with Human Resources and Student Health Services, hosted various events for students, faculty, and staff, on healthy eating, incorporating fitness into our daily lives, and staying hydrated.
FIU’s 2016 Healthy Campus Week (HCW) was a huge success. The HCW campaign featured Roary, the FIU Mascot, engaging in various wellness-related activities, resulted in strong social media impressions.

"FIU continues its programs to assist students with food insecurity, and most recently obtained approval to continue research efforts in the area, in order to appropriately assess and create resources for students in need.

"Finally, we continue to work with our food services provider, Aramark, to ensure guidelines are met by 2017, with our goal of making the healthy choice the easy choice for our campus communities.”
