    Offer on the menu a minimum of one (1) wellness meal at each breakfast, lunch and dinner meal (if served).

    Progress To Date

    California State University, Fresno offers at least one wellness meal at breakfast, lunch and dinner at its University Dining Hall. Wellness meals are promoted to students, faculty and staff at the point of presentation with signage that includes serving sizes and nutrition information. A Healthy Choice icon identifies wellness meal components in the dining facility.

    Label food and beverage items offered with calories per serving at the point of presentation OR Designate healthier food and beverage options using a healthy icon at the point of presentation.

    Progress To Date

    California State University, Fresno has implemented a "Healthy Choice" icon to identify wellness meals and wellness meal components. Signage is posted, and printed brochures and table tents are placed in the Residence Dining Hall, to notify students of the healthy choices.

    Offer at least one (1) organized and facilitated fifteen (15) minute activity break (e.g., instant recess) on each school day.

    Progress To Date

    California State University, Fresno has developed the 10 Minute Wellness at Work series to promote activity and movement each day. Each week, a new video featuring quick and effective exercises that can be done at a desk is shared in the Campus News e-newsletter. An organized walking wellness break is also offered on the one-mile Bulldog Trail each week.

    Commitment Element

    Offer, without a user fee, both: a. Fitness/recreation center orientation during the first semester for all incoming students and b. One (1) fitness assessment all students each academic year.

    Progress To Date

    California State University, Fresno offers free fitness assessments of cardiovascular endurance, muscular strength and endurance, flexibility, body composition and BMI twice per school year. Assessments are offered at the Turnt Up Tuesday/Recreation Center Open House and on Campus Rec Day. Fitness orientations are offered for free anytime upon request at the Student Recreation Center.

    Provide an outdoor fitness system.

    Progress To Date

    California State University, Fresno offers an outdoor, interactive fitness court with a range of stationary fitness equipment to encourage outdoor physical activity and movement.

Partner Statement

Fresno State completed the remainder of all 23 guidelines in early 2020, including, but not limited to, the roll out of a healthy eating icon for students using the Residence Dining Hall. This completion of the Partnership for a Healthier America’s Healthier Campus Initiative guidelines makes Fresno State the first of 23 California State University campuses to do so.
