    University of Arizona offers at least one wellness meal at every breakfast, lunch and dinner served at its five campus dining venues. Wellness meals meet all PHA food and nutrition criteria and are promoted daily with signage and a sample plate.

    Progress To Date

    University of Arizona designates healthier food and beverage options using the Healthy Habits and Well$pent healthy icons at the point of presentation and online. Items that are labeled Healthier Habits meet guidelines for calories, saturated fat, trans fat and sodium. The Well$pent icon identifies items that meet the same nutrition guidelines and are available for five dollars or less.

    Offer a minimum of three (3) types of fruits, three (3) types of vegetables, two (2) 100% whole grain products and no more than two (2) fried items on catering menus. OR Offer a healthier catering menu that only includes foods and beverages that meet healthier food and nutrition guidelines.

    University of Arizona offers a Healthier Habits for Catered Events menu that includes only foods and beverages that meet healthier catering criteria, mutually agreed upon by the University and PHA.

    Ensure the percentage of healthier beverage purchases (in dollars) is a minimum of sixty percent (60%) of total beverage purchases (in dollars) for catering.

    Progress To Date

    During the 2016-2017 school year, 62 percent of University of Arizona’s catering beverage purchases met PHA’s healthy beverage criteria.

    Provide at least one outdoor running/walking track that is open and available for use to individuals on campus and the community for at least three (3) hours per day .

    Progress To Date

    University of Arizona offers a one-mile walking and running track on campus. The track is open to students, faculty, staff and the community every day of the week for a minimum of 3 hours, but generally 24 hours a day. This area is lit at night for those wishing to enjoy physical activity in the evening.

“The University of Arizona is proud to participate in the Partnership for a Healthier America’s Healthier Campus Initiative. In our second year, we have been able to submit and have third party verification completed for the remaining 35% of the required criteria surrounding nutrition, wellness and physical activity. We are excited to announce the University of Arizona has completed 100% of the required criteria in two years, one full year ahead of the three-year commitment period. The University has continued to strengthen its wellness efforts by ensuring five types of fruit, five types of vegetables & two whole grains are offered at lunch and dinner, providing an outdoor walking/running track on campus and implementing an integrated comprehensive wellness program annually through our Healthy Campus Week Summit & Expo. We continue our enthusiasm to excel in the areas of wellness focusing on diet, exercise & mind to become the Healthiest Campus in America!”
