Partner Statement

“Tougaloo College partnered with Partnership for a Healthier America to improve the health of our campus environment for our students, faculty and staff. Tougaloo College has committed to meet 23 guidelines—developed by PHA in collaboration with some of the nation’s leading nutrition, physical activity and campus wellness experts—around nutrition, physical activity, and wellness programming on campus. Since partnering, Tougaloo College has been focused on creating effective wellness programs, increase healthy eating and provide more physical activity opportunities campus-wide. Over the past year, we have worked hard to create partnerships and programs that will positively affect the health of our students, faculty and staff. During our first year we have worked closely with our campus health clinic, fitness center, and community partners, dining department and campus organizations to create structure and processes that will allow us to sustain the implemented initiatives. We are excited about going into year two and fully implementing our wellness programs, wellness meals, health and wellness online education module and cooking classes. We are looking forward to sharing more information about endeavors in helping Tougaloo College be the healthiest campus we can be.”
