“Mercedes-Benz USA, in partnership with Laureus Sport for Good Foundation USA (Laureus USA), has invested $8.4 million over three years to train and place coaches in underserved communities where youth-based sports programming is lacking. In 2017, Mercedes-Benz USA invested $2.8 million in Laureus USA. Working with Up2Us Sports and Playworks, with an eye toward providing a safe and engaging afterschool environment for at-risk youth, 7,072 coaches have been trained and 679 coaches have been placed in 149 metropolitan areas. These coaches have reached 389,507 youth in 2017. MBUSA’s investment in Laureus USA has also provided over $1.3 million in grants and services to 33 grassroots sport for development programming organizations operating in New Orleans, Atlanta, Chicago, and New York City. These organizations have collectively reached over 30,500 youth in 2017, fostering improvements in health, education, and community cohesion. Notably, following the relocation of MBUSA headquarters to Atlanta, Laureus launched Laureus Sport for Good Atlanta, which will provide multi-year grants to youth-based sports programming organizations operating in Atlanta’s Westside community.”
