    Progress To Date

The Outdoor Foundation and Outdoor Industry Association built a web-based platform that allowed schools and nonprofit programs from across the U.S. to connect to funders from the outdoor industry and other sectors in order to provide youth with opportunities to get outside and be physically active in national parks. Between March 2016 and February 2017, schools and nonprofit agencies created 232 fundraising campaigns across 162 unique cities in 41 states and one U.S. territory on the web-based platform, with a goal to reach 280,736 youth. Of these, 84 campaigns raised at least 50% of their fundraising goal and were able to receive donations to complete project activities in parks that engaged 31,685 youth in a total of 159,092 hours of physical activity, an average of 6 hours per child.Thirty-three percent of completed projects involved Title 1 schools, which have high numbers or high percentages of children from low-income families. Overall, $533,158 was raised to support outdoor activities for youth.
