Partner Statement

“California State University, Fullerton is excited to share our accomplishments for our first year as a Healthier Campus Initiative partner. With a large campus of approximately 40,000 students, it can be difficult to combat silo formation in place of collaborative workgroups. Therefore, our HCI team created a Wellness Council reflective of 30+ representatives from across campus including, students, faculty and staff. The council convenes 2-3 times per semester to not only address our 23 commitments, but also to share and build health and well-being information, resources and events. In addition, this year we celebrated the success of our Healthy Campus Week activities, which included collaborations with MindBody and St Jude Hospital for fun and fit afternoons of ballroom dancing and pound fitness! One of our exceptional accomplishments is the successful implementation of our Weight Watchers (now WW) program on campus. Collectively, 71 members lost 764 pounds after just a few months in the program! We are thrilled with our achievements thus far and are excited to continue our work to make CSUF an even healthier community…in fact we recently received a small grant to begin work and research on implementing a campus garden!”
