Gathering with friends and family over home-cooked meals is more than just a great way to bring people together – it can also be good for your health! That’s the message MARS Food U.S. has been promoting, as part of its commitment to encourage and support healthier eating.

One of the nation’s top food companies, MARS promotes healthier food choices through a wide range of actions, from improving the nutritional quality of its Uncle Ben’s and Seeds of Change product lines to encouraging family and friends to use the recipes found on its website and product packaging to create healthier meals and good times.

To guide consumers in making healthier choices, MARS has committed to providing them with better information about the nutritional content of its products, prominently labeling the most nutritious and healthful as “everyday” choices, and those that are less so as “occasional” treats to be eaten no more than once a week.

MARS also has pledged to reduce sodium in its product lines an average of 20 percent by 2021. It will ensure all new products in the U.S. meet or will be reformulated to meet added sugar guidelines. The company also promised to include a minimum of one serving of vegetables in all of its tomato-based jar products and expand its offering of whole grain products, ensuring a minimum of 16 grams of whole grains in at least half of its whole grain products.

MARS’s commitment extends beyond specific products to also include investing in its employees. All MARS associates will have access to nutrition education classes and those in the U.S. will find cooking and fitness facilities on the job site, accessible to them at no charge.
