Partner Statement

“Second Harvest Food Bank of Santa Clara and San Mateo Counties is a proud member of Feeding America’s national network, and an inspired partner of Partnership For a Healthier America. As one of the largest food banks in the nation, our work is about all of us joining together to ensure everyone has access to the most basic need: nutritious food. We provide food to more than 250,000 people in Santa Clara and San Mateo Counties every month. More than half the clients we serve are kids and seniors.

"We distribute more fresh produce than almost any other food bank in the country, through a network of over 300 nonprofit partners at nearly 1000 sites. More than 50% of what we distribute to clients is fresh fruits and vegetables, We also connect those in need to federal nutrition programs and other food resources, as well as offering evidence-based nutrition education to clients of all ages and backgrounds.

"As the hunger landscape has changed, with more busy working families and people living in unconventional spaces without access to kitchens, Second Harvest Food Bank of Santa Clara and San Mateo Counties has stepped up our effort to find new ways to get more nutritious prepared meals to those who need them. Through our partnerships with companies like Starbucks and Amazon Fresh, we are now offering more nourishing ready-to-eat meals than before.

"Going forward, we will continue to do whatever it takes to build a healthy, hunger-free community.”
