Partner Statement

“Mercedes-Benz USA, in partnership with Laureus Sport for Good Foundation USA (Laureus USA), has committed a second three year $8.4 million investment to train and place coaches in historically marginalized communities in which a disproportionate number of children and youth do not have access to the types of positive sports-based youth development programs that are essentially to helping all children and young people achieve their full potential. In 2018, Mercedes-Benz USA invested $2.8 million in Laureus USA and supported, via delivery partners Up2Us Sports and Playworks, trauma-informed positive youth development training for 4,721 youth sports coaches. Of these coaches, 1,156 were placed with diverse organizations across 105 metropolitan areas to reach 337,447 youth. MBUSA’s investment in Laureus USA has also provided over $1.3 million in grants and services to 44 grassroots sport-based youth development organizations operating in New Orleans, Atlanta, Chicago, and New York City. These organizations have collectively reached nearly 31,000 youth in 2018, fostering improvements in physical and mental health, social emotional learning, educational achievement, and community cohesion.”
