Partner Statement
“Going off to college signals a time of newfound independence for young adults, who are suddenly able to make their own choices about what they eat and how much activity they get – or don’t get. But college and university students, faculty and staff now find themselves in healthier environments thanks to the work being done by PHA partners like Bethune-Cookman University in Daytona Beach, Florida (B-CU).
"B-CU joined the Partnership for a Healthier America since April, 2018 through their great Healthier Campus Initiative. B-CU has committed to implement a total of 23 guidelines in a period of 3 years that will create a positive and forward impact among students, faculty and staff. Clear and conclusive changes have since taken place to establish a new culture of health and wellness. Some of them are: changes in Wildcat Dining Hall that deliver healthier options, monthly walks, the hire of peer health educators that promote and impart healthier behaviors, and the development of new local partnerships to assist students to achieve their optimal health.”
