Partner Statement

“The Arkansas Foodbank reaches clients through nearly 440 partner agencies across our 33- county service area. We are committed to efficient, effective distribution of high quality, nutritious food and value-added resources to our local partners. We are constantly looking for better and more efficient ways to acquire, store and deliver much needed food for those we serve.

"In 2018, a committee was formed to create a nutrition policy supporting the overall strategic goal to increase nutritious foods as percentage of total pounds distributed. The committee, led by a staff Nutritionist, was comprised of members representing various departments within our foodbank. This policy applies to categories over which we have the most control and accounts for 50% of our inventory: 1) Foods and beverages obtained from government programs and 2) Foods and beverages purchased by the foodbank.

"In addition to the creation of the nutrition policy, we coordinated activities and events in celebration of our inaugural commemoration of National Nutrition Month, created a monthly newsletter for our Commodity Supplemental Food Program partner agencies, and partnered with a local retail store and veteran’s hospital to offer monthly food demonstrations and distributions to the veterans and area elderly citizens.”
