Partner Statement
In April 2019, Sprout was the very first baby food brand to make a commitment to Partnership for a Healthier America. The partnership was forged in an effort to tackle America’s obesity crisis by shaping nutritious food preferences among our youngest eaters, infants and toddlers.
By introducing babies to healthier foods within the first year of life, we could help prevent future health outcomes like obesity and other chronic diseases. Sprout recognized the power of shaping palates early on by developing preferences for vegetables and other savory foods.
Our commitment to PHA ensures that at least 50 percent of our pouch purees have a vegetable as the first and primary ingredient. We also will continue to ensure that 100 percent of our pouches contain no added sugars. We are excited to announce that as of March 2020 we have met our commitment! We have also increased our vegetable-forward recipes beyond purees by extending to baby and toddler snacks, as well as introducing the 1st line of veggie-forward, plant-based protein meals for toddlers. We achieved our commitment to PHA through product reformulations to increase vegetable content as well as introducing new veggie-forward recipes into the market, including new Sprout Organic Veggie Power pouches, made with a full serving of veggies per pouch.
Sprout will be publishing a White Paper in Summer 2020 on the importance of shaping palates among infants and toddlers and developing preferences for vegetables and other savory flavors.
