“As one of the first supporters of the Partnership for a Healthier America, Oklahoma State University is pleased to set standards for promoting health and wellness by adopting guidelines around the various dimensions of wellness. One of the missions of being America’s Healthiest Campus® is to enrich the lives of our employees, students and communities, with a goal to have successful, engaged, productive, happy graduates.

~Oklahoma State University, 2016 PHA Progress Report

Going off to college signals a time of newfound independence for young adults, who are suddenly able to make their own choices about what they eat and how much activity they get – or don’t get. But college and university students, faculty and staff now find themselves in healthier environments thanks to the work being done by PHA partners like Oklahoma State University (OSU).

On November 16, 2014, OSU teamed up with PHA to meet 23 guidelines, all with an eye toward shaping good habits for our future leaders and parents. Over three years, OSU will make changes such as providing healthier food and beverage options in dining venues, creating opportunities for physical activity and offering wellness programming on campus.

With more than 24,200 students and approximately 5,700 members of the faculty and staff on campus each year, OSU’s changes will have an impact on healthier living now and for generations to come.
