Did you know? Food insecure individuals are subject to the same challenging cultural changes as other Americans such as more sedentary lifestyles or increased portion sizes. Food insecure individuals also face unique challenges in adopting and maintaining healthful behaviors such as fewer resources, lack of opportunities for physical activity and limited access to health care.

But our partners like the Capital Area Food Bank (CAFB) will work to bring healthier options to those facing food insecurity.

CAFB is the largest organization in the Washington metro area working to solve hunger and its companion health problems. By working with 444 community organizations in Washington, D.C., Maryland and Virginia, as well as delivering food directly into hard to reach areas, the organization is able to help 540,000 people gain access to healthier food each year.

As our partner, CAFB is committing to empower its participants to make healthier choices, reach more elementary-aged children and build relationships with grocery retailers. CAFB also will onboard new partners into its “Partners for Wellness” program and provide easy-to-use nutrition education materials like recipe cards in English and Spanish.

We are proud to work with an organization making a large impact in the Washington metropolitan area.
