The University of New England incentivizes the use of public transportation by providing students with free access to shuttle service between its Biddeford and Portland campuses and on the Nor'easter Express, which runs from campus to the local train station and neighboring towns. The University also offers students access to Zipcar car sharing and Zagster bike sharing services. First-year residential and transfer students who opt not to bring a car to campus and become Zipcar or Zagster members are eligible for $300 towards campus dining flex dollars, campus bookstore purchases or Zipcar use.

The University of New England offers free cooking classes as part of its You & Eats: A Cooking Class Series. During the 2018-2019 school year, six cooking classes were offered introducing students to healthy recipes including fruit and vegetable smoothies, kale chips and overnight oats.
