    Offer on the menu a minimum of one (1) wellness meal at each breakfast, lunch and dinner meal (if served).

    Progress To Date

    University of California, Davis developed the Nourish initiative to make it easier for the campus community to identify and choose nourishing foods when dining on campus. Nourish UC Davis aims to increase consumption of fruits and vegetables, healthy fats, fiber and whole grains while decreasing consumption of sodium, added sugar and saturated fat through transparent nutritional information and promotional signage. The University offers at least five meal options at the ASUCD Coffee House and at least three meal options at the Dining Commons facility that meet Nourish criteria for each breakfast, lunch and dinner. All Nourish meals must contain at least one serving of fruits and/or vegetables and minimum amounts of protein and fiber (or whole grains), and they must adhere to maximum limits for sodium, saturated fat and added sugar. In addition, foods and beverages that make up Nourish meals may not be deep fried or contain unwanted ingredients.

    Ensure the percentage of healthier beverage purchases (in dollars) is a minimum of sixty percent (60%) of total beverage purchases (in dollars).

    Progress To Date

    Healthy beverage purchases at the University of California, Davis ASUCD Coffee House and Dining Commons facility make up 47% of total beverage purchases. The University also receives a 15% bonus for ensuring all dining facilities offer water, which is freely available and incentivized with promotional materials and fruit and herb infusions or flavors. Including the 15% credit for water promotion, 62% of total beverage purchases are for beverages that meet PHA’s criteria for healthy beverages.

    Dedicate at least seventy-five percent (75%) of the primary campus recreation center floor space to areas for physical activity.

    Progress To Date

    The ARC recreation facility at the University of California, Davis offers 45,150 square feet of space. The square footage dedicated for recreation is 39,620 square feet or 88% of the total space.

UC Davis proudly fulfilled our three-year commitment with the Healthier Campus Initiative and will continue to make health and wellness a priority for our students, staff and faculty. The Healthier Campus Initiative ignited relationships among campus partners with a shared vision of creating a culture of health and wellness at UC Davis. Through the campus-wide effort of Healthy UC Davis, we will strive to provide community members with support and tools to engage in healthy behaviors, advocate for policies and institutional practices that foster well-being and create comprehensive, integrative and collaborative leading practice programs. Ultimately, we aim to make UC Davis the healthiest community in the nation.
