Fresno State had a very successful 2019 – our second year as part of the Partnership for a Healthier America. Our campus-wide planning coalition continued to advise the Healthier Campus Initiative towards the completion of twenty-three food and nutrition, physical activity/movement and programming guidelines. As of June 1st, seventeen guidelines were verified! As of October 31st, an additional four guidelines have been submitted. The highlight of 2019 was the installation and ribbon cutting of the National Fitness Campaign’s Fitness Court, making Fresno State one of only twenty elite campuses to have this state-of-the-art outdoor gym! The ribbon-cutting was held on Thursday, October 3rd followed by a FREE high intensity 15-minute work out on the equipment. This was the culmination of a two-year campus-wide effort. Healthy Campus Week had activities for faculty, staff and students, including a Stress Free Zone with therapy dogs and bubbles, a Fresh Fruit Walk along our one-mile marked Bulldog Trail and a large-scale outdoor yoga class with sixty participants. Fresno State was recognized by the Partnership for a Healthier America as a runner-up for the largest physical activity challenge.
