George Mason University
Going off to college signals a time of newfound independence for young adults, who are suddenly able to make their own choices about what they eat and how much activity they get – or don’t get. But college and university students, faculty and staff now find themselves in healthier environments thanks to the work being done by PHA partners like George Mason University (Mason).
On November 16, 2014, Mason teamed up with PHA to meet 23 guidelines, all with an eye toward shaping good habits for our future leaders and parents. Over three years, Mason will make changes such as providing healthier food and beverage options in dining venues, creating opportunities for physical activity and offering wellness programming on campus. With 34,000 students and approximately 10,000 members of the faculty and staff on campus each year, Mason’s changes will have a major impact on healthier living now and for generations to come.
