Going off to college signals a time of newfound independence for young adults, who are suddenly able to make their own choices about what they eat and how much activity they get – or don’t get. But college and university students, faculty and staff now find themselves in healthier environments thanks to the work being done by PHA partners like Binghamton University.
On November 16, 2014, Binghamton University teamed up with PHA to meet 23 guidelines, all with an eye toward shaping good habits for our future leaders and parents. Over three years, Binghamton University will make changes such as providing healthier food and beverage options in dining venues, creating opportunities for physical activity and offering wellness programming on campus. With more than 16,000 students and approximately 2,500 members of the faculty and staff, Binghamton University’s changes will have a major impact on healthier living now and for generations to come.
Binghamton University is pleased to be part of the Partnership for a Healthier America. Participation has afforded us the opportunity to both evaluate our existing services while implementing an actionable list of enhancements and additions.
More than 1.2 million students, faculty and staff now have access to healthier options on campus thanks to Healthier Campus Initiative partners.
