Mary Baldwin University

Commitment

Started on April 1, 2019
3 year commitment

Going off to college signals a time of newfound independence for young adults, who are suddenly able to make their own choices about what they eat and how much activity they get – or don’t get. But college and university students, faculty and staff now find themselves in healthier environments thanks to the work being done by PHA’s Healthier Campus Initiative partners.

Mary Baldwin University teamed up with PHA to meet 23 guidelines, with an eye toward shaping good habits for our future leaders and parents. Over three years, this small, mostly female Virginia university will make changes such as providing healthier food and beverage options at campus dining facilities, creating opportunities for physical activity and offering wellness programming on campus. Through these changes, we know Mary Baldwin University will have a major impact on healthier living now and for generations to come.
