Convenience stores across the U.S. are stepping up to make the healthier choice the easy choice.

Half of the U.S. population visits a convenience store every day. Two-thirds of convenience stores nationwide are authorized SNAP retailers, comprising 40 percent of all redemption locations.

In fact, the National Association of Convenience Stores (NACS), the organization representing the nation’s 154,000-plus convenience stores, has found that over half of consumers would visit convenience stores more often if they knew healthier foods were available. A marked shift is taking place across the industry, and convenience stores across the nation are stepping up to meet this rise in demand for healthier options.

PHA’s store and distribution partners are helping consumers make healthier choices by increasing their offerings of fruits and vegetables, healthier grab-and-go and prepared food items, better-for-you snacks, and zero- and low-calorie beverages.

Additionally, PHA has partnered with NACS to ensure that convenience stores across the nation are fully stocked with healthier options.

67% of convenience store retailers said that the sale of better-for-you options increased in their stores in 2019.
