WASHINGTON, DC — The Partnership for a Healthier America (PHA), which works with the private sector and PHA honorary chair First Lady Michelle Obama to end childhood obesity in the U.S., today announced that Indra Nooyi, Chairman and CEO of PepsiCo will speak during the 2015 Building a Healthier Future Summit, taking place February 25-27, 2015 at the Washington Hilton in Washington, D.C.

“Each year, PHA’s Summit brings some of the nation’s most prominent leaders together to explore how we can make healthier choices easier for busy parents and families,” said PHA CEO Lawrence A. Soler. “This year, we are pleased to welcome Indra Nooyi and PepsiCo to the main stage. We look forward to an insightful, interesting discussion.”

Nooyi will discuss a range of topics, including the transformation of PepsiCo’s product portfolio, the role of industry in supporting healthy lifestyles, the value of public-private partnerships when addressing societal challenges and the importance of long-term strategy and vision when tackling complex issues.

Nooyi is the architect of Performance with Purpose, which is PepsiCo’s goal to deliver sustained financial performance by transforming its product portfolio to provide a wide range of foods and beverages; finding innovative ways to reduce its impact on the environment; providing a safe and inclusive workplace for its employees around the globe; and investing in the communities in which it operates. Nooyi also serves as Chair of the Healthy Weight Commitment Foundation, a coalition of manufacturers and retailers that removed 6.4 trillion calories from the marketplace from 2007 to 2012, representing a 78-calorie reduction per person, per day.

Each year, the Building a Healthier Future Summit brings together leaders from industry, non-profit, government, philanthropic and academic organizations. Participants of the two-day Summit discuss real solutions to ending America’s childhood obesity crisis during breakout sessions focused on health equity and other topics. Leading decision makers and experts from both the private and public sectors also speak as part of the Summit. For more information, visit www.ahealthieramerica.org/summit.

About PHA: The Partnership for a Healthier America (PHA) is devoted to working with the private sector to ensure the health of our nation’s youth by solving the childhood obesity crisis. In 2010, PHA was created in conjunction with – but independent from – First Lady Michelle Obama’s Let’s Move! effort. PHA is a nonpartisan nonprofit organization that is led by some of the nation’s most respected health and childhood obesity experts. PHA brings together public, private and nonprofit leaders to broker meaningful commitments and develop strategies to end childhood obesity. Most important, PHA ensures that commitments made are commitments kept by working with unbiased, third parties to monitor and publicly report on the progress our partners are making.
