CAMPBELL SOUP COMPANY CEO DENISE MORRISON TO SPEAK AT PARTNERSHIP FOR A HEALTHIER AMERICA’S FOURTH CHILDHOOD OBESITY SUMMIT

Morrison will be featured during a plenary session at the Building a Healthier Future Summit, February 25-27, 2015

WASHINGTON, DC — The Partnership for a Healthier America (PHA), which works with the private sector and PHA honorary chair First Lady Michelle Obama to end childhood obesity in the U.S., today announced that Denise Morrison, president and CEO of Campbell Soup Company, will speak during the plenary session at its 2015 Building a Healthier Future Summit. The event takes place February 25-27, 2015 at the Washington Hilton in Washington, D.C.

“Each year, PHA’s Summit brings some of the nation’s most prominent leaders together to explore how we can make healthier choices easier for busy parents and families,” said PHA CEO Lawrence A. Soler. “This year, we are pleased that Denise Morrison is joining us on the main stage. We look forward to an insightful, interesting discussion.”

Morrison’s CEO Spotlight session will focus on the role food companies can play in positively influencing the way people eat, as well as the reshaping of Campbell’s portfolio. She will also discuss Campbell’s commitment to improving the well being of communities. Since 2011, through its Healthy Communities program, Campbell has provided approximately 790,000 hours of physical activity to children and supported more than 400,000 hours of nutrition education in its hometown of Camden, New Jersey. The company has extended the program to other locations where it operates. Campbell’s Healthy Communities program has also been used as a framework for advancing the effectiveness of health and wellness programs across the food industry.

Each year, the Building a Healthier Future Summit brings together leaders from industry, non-profit, government, philanthropic and academic organizations. Participants of the two-day Summit discuss real solutions to ending America’s childhood obesity crisis during breakout sessions focused on health equity and other topics. Leading decision makers and experts from both the private and public sectors also speak as part of the Summit. For more information, visit www.ahealthieramerica.org/summit.

About PHA: The Partnership for a Healthier America (PHA) is devoted to working with the private sector to ensure the health of our nation’s youth by solving the childhood obesity crisis. In 2010, PHA was created in conjunction with – but independent from – First Lady Michelle Obama’s Let’s Move! effort. PHA is a nonpartisan nonprofit organization that is led by some of the nation’s most respected health and childhood obesity experts. PHA brings together public, private and nonprofit leaders to broker meaningful commitments and develop strategies to end childhood obesity. Most important, PHA ensures that commitments made are commitments kept by working with unbiased, third parties to monitor and publicly report on the progress our partners are making.
