Going off to college signals a time of newfound independence for young adults, who are suddenly able to make their own choices about what they eat and how much activity they get – or don’t get. But college and university students, faculty and staff now find themselves in healthier environments thanks to the work being done by PHA partners like University of South Carolina.

On April 3, 2019, University of South Carolina teamed up with us to meet 23 guidelines, all with an eye toward shaping shaping good habits for our future leaders and parents. Over three years, University of South Carolina will make changes such as providing healthier food and beverage options in dining venues, creating opportunities for physical activity and offering wellness programming on campus. With nearly 35,000 members students, faculty and staff, University of South Carolina’s changes will have a major impact on healthier living now and for generations to come.
