Catholic Health Initiatives
3 year commitment
Hospitals are the places we go to get healthy, so the food we eat while there should have a positive impact on our bodies. With this in mind, more than 700 hospital partners across the nation, including Catholic Health Initiatives (CHI), teamed up with us to make healthier choices easier.
On October 6, 2012, CHI joined our Hospital Healthier Food Initiative, partnering with us on our mission to create dramatic and expansive improvements in hospital nutrition. From committing to display only health-promoting food options in cafeteria and menu advertising, to removing all fryers and deep-fat fried products and placing healthier food options within five feet of the checkout, the changes have the potential to reach many in the 39 CHI hospitals participating.
“We are in the business of health, so it makes perfect sense that we will do everything we can to provide the most nutritious food available as a way to serve our patients and to help deal with the childhood obesity crisis. We are proud to be a part of the Partnership for a Healthier America.
~Steve Kehrberg, senior vice president for supply chain at Englewood, Colo.-based CHI, the nation’s second-largest faith-based health care system
At CHI, where approximately 12 million meals are served a year in participating hospitals, this could have a big impact on many patients, staff and visitors each year!
More than 700 hospital partners (10 percent of all hospitals nationwide) take part in our Hospital Healthier Food Initiative.
