2 year commitment

Food banks and food pantries play a key role in meeting the nutritional needs of low-income children and families, who have less access to nutritious, affordable foods and are disproportionately impacted by obesity and diet-related disease. Our food bank partners make sure that times of sacrifice don’t also mean sacrificing good health.

Southeast Ohio Foodbank will receive support from PHA to implement a comprehensive nutrition ranking system over the next two years. PHA will provide technical assistance to help Southeast Ohio Foodbank understand the nutritional quality of its inventory, enhancing food equity for the communities they serve.

HAPCAP operates the Southeast Ohio Foodbank and Regional Kitchen, which provides access to affordable, quality food resources to those individuals, organizations, and other entities seeking to mitigate food insecurity and promote good nutrition in an efficient, eco-friendly, and sustainable way. HAPCAP, as an umbrella organization, provides a range of services to supports designed to fight poverty in the communities we serve. In addition to our food programs and services, we offer programming to connect individuals to employment, safe and secure housing, transportation, and quality childcare. Our mission is to mobilize resources to empower individuals and communities through advocacy and quality services that promote self-sufficiency and improved quality of life.

Low-income people are at increased risk for both food insecurity and obesity
