PHA Welcome Four New Drink Up Supporters

Festival Foods, Niagara Bottling, Water for Vets™ and Zip 2 Water™ Join the Drink Up Effort

Four new companies will encourage people to drink more water more often

Washington, DC (April 2, 2014) – The Partnership for a Healthier America (PHA), which works with the private sector and PHA Honorary Chair First Lady Michelle Obama to solve the nation’s childhood obesity crisis, today announced that four new companies have joined its Drink Up initiative. Festival Foods, Niagara Bottling, Water for Vets™ and Zip 2 Water™ have signed on to support the collaboration. The effort is led by PHA and now includes approximately 50 supporters across the water industry.

“We are pleased that each of our four newest supporters represent different portions of the water community. From a bottler to a retailer to a vending business to a company that provides mobile filtration systems for outdoor events, each of our newest supporters will help us expand our growing reach,” said PHA CEO Lawrence A. Soler. “PHA is proud of the work being done by all of our Drink Up supporters and we are grateful they are helping us drive a very simple, positive message: you are what you drink, and when you drink water, you drink up.”

Festival Foods is a family and employee-owned company that operates 19 full-service supermarkets in 17 communities across Wisconsin. Festival Foods will include the Drink Up logo on all of its private label water bottles and case wrappers.

Family owned and operated since 1963, Niagara Bottling will feature the Drink Up logo and messaging focused on healthy hydration on more than two million cases of water. In addition, Niagara will promote the initiative on all of its online and social platforms.

Water-For-Vets™ is dedicated to helping veterans maintain meaningful careers by becoming independent beverage distributors for Water-for-Vets™ branded bottled water and Americans with Disabilities (ADA) compliant vending machines. The Drink Up logo will be placed on every Water-For-Vets™ water bottle and vending machine when produced.

Zip 2 Water™, developer of America’s first mobile water filtration system optimized for outdoor campus and community events, has committed to using special Drink Up-branded Mobile Filtration Systems at events across the country. In addition, Zip 2 Water™ will incorporate Drink Up’s message into its promotional efforts and offer a Drink Up promotional package online.

About the Partnership for a Healthier America

The Partnership for a Healthier America (PHA) is devoted to working with the private sector to ensure the health of our nation’s youth by solving the childhood obesity crisis. In 2010, PHA was created in conjunction with – but independent from – First Lady Michelle Obama’s Let’s Move! effort. PHA is a nonpartisan nonprofit organization that is led by some of the nation’s most respected health and childhood obesity experts. PHA brings together public, private and nonprofit leaders to broker meaningful commitments and develop strategies to end childhood obesity. Most important, PHA ensures that commitments made are commitments kept by working with unbiased third parties to monitor and publicly report on the progress our partners are making.
