Partnership for a Healthier America Recognizes Mercedes-Benz USA, Laureus USA and Honest Tea Co-Founder with Catalyst for Change Award

Washington, D.C. – Today, Partnership for a Healthier America (PHA) announced that this year’s Partner of the Year will be presented to Mercedes-Benz USA and Laureus USA, and the CEO of the Year award will be presented to Seth Goldman, Co-Founder & TeaEO Emeritus of Honest Tea® and Executive Chair of Beyond Meat.

Each year, PHA’s Catalyst for Change Awards recognizes organizations and community leaders who exemplify positive change by developing solutions to create a healthier generation.

“Mercedes-Benz USA and Laureus USA have positively impacted the lives of hundreds of thousands of children and young adults across the country,” said PHA President and CEO Nancy E. Roman. “Their commitment to invest in communities that are most impacted by our nation’s obesity crisis is incredibly important to ensure the next generation grows up to be adults free from obesity, diabetes, heart disease, and other chronic conditions.”

To date, Mercedes-Benz USA and its dealer network have invested $12.6 million in Laureus USA as part of multi-year commitments to improve the health and development of young people living in under-resourced communities across the country. Mercedes-Benz USA supported projects have improved the health of 771,000 young people and have trained more than 16,000 coaches. Last year, 82 percent of young people reached by Laureus USA community grant partners demonstrated indicators of improved physical health.

“It is a tremendous honor to be recognized with this award, particularly alongside our dedicated partner, Mercedes Benz USA,” said Benita Fitzgerald Mosley, CEO of Laureus USA and Olympic Gold Medalist in Track and Field. “Laureus is committed to advancing the use of sport for social change by driving collaboration. To truly change the world through sport, we will continue to work together as a team to make sure every child has access to high-quality sports programs right in their own community.”
