John F. MacDonald - Board Member

John MacDonald is the Chief Marketing Officer at The GIANT Co, the Carlisle, PA based grocery chain which is part of the AholdDelhaize family of brands in the US. In MacDonald’s 30-year professional career, he has held several leadership positions in the Healthcare and the retail industry supporting businesses and customers.  His Ahold Delhaize career began in 1999 with the Ahold Financial Service group and has progressed to his current role at The GIANT Co. His recent roles of Chief Marketing Officer at FreshDirect based in NYC as well VP of Marketing for Giant Food based in Landover, MD has provided a tenure of developing relevant and digitally modern marketing platforms.

MacDonald earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Marketing at Bloomsburg University, holds a master’s degree in Business Administration from Lebanon Valley College, and along with Executive Education at Harvard, he has attained a black belt level of process improvement in Lean / Six Sigma.

In addition to his professional responsibilities, MacDonald has spent time in the past several years leading local non-profit boards including former roles as the President of the Board of Directors at the Central Pennsylvania Food Bank, and Vice President Board of Directors at the Perry County Literacy Council. MacDonald has also taught Undergraduate and M.B.A. courses at Elizabethtown College, master’s level courses for Lebanon Valley College, and currently teaches undergraduate marketing classes for the school of business at Penn State Harrisburg. MacDonald, who resides in Millerstown, PA loves to read, search for collectables, listen to music and most importantly, spend time with his family.
