On Healthier Eating…

1) What does healthy eating mean to you?
To me, healthy eating is all about balance—I try to make nutritious choices, but also consider portion size, exercise, and doing my best to get enough sleep.

2) Tell us the best health advice you’ve ever received?
The advice that changed my life was to consider exercise as a reward, rather than an obligation. Now I try to incorporate some type of daily exercise into my schedule, and consider it “me time.”

3) What is your go-to nutritious breakfast meal?
I love chocolate protein shakes—delicious, nutritious, and perfectly portable.

On Physical Activity…

4) Who is your fitness hero?
My 13 yr. old son. He’s quite an athlete. He’s incredibly supportive and motivates me to exercise every day—for physical and mental well-being.

5) What is your healthiest fitness habit?
I’ve recently begun to combine a cardio routine with core strengthening exercises—it covers everything and I don’t get bored.

On Transforming the Marketplace…

Airports! I travel a lot for work and am always pleasantly surprised to see the new range of healthier food options at restaurants and smaller food markets/kiosks.

7) Where have you not seen healthier options that you wish would begin offering new choices?
Along the interstate highways. Road trips can be a real challenge for anyone trying to eat well.

On a Commitment With PHA…

8) Why are you inspired to help ensure all children can grow up healthy?
Sesame Workshop’s mission is to help children grown smarter, stronger, and kinder. Given the statistics on childhood obesity, we create educational content to help children and the adults in their lives develop “Healthy Habits for Life” which includes nutrition, exercise, water consumption, and getting the proper amount of sleep.

9) What does “Making the healthy choice the easy choice” mean to you?
I try to keep my kitchen stocked with nutritious foods I love that are easy to prepare—so it’s less tempting to reach for high-calorie snack food when I get home at the end of a long day.

10) Describe your company’s partnership with PHA in three words.
Promoting healthy choices!

11) What was that “Aha!” moment that made you realize your company is having a big impact on the health of our nation’s youth?
We were all thrilled when we saw the impact research showing the significant results of Elmo, Cookie Monster, and Grover modeling Healthy Habits and increasing the health outcomes for preschoolers.
