Partner Statement

“The George Washington University’s (GW) PHA Healthier Campus Initiative partnership has served to augment campus community engagement around fitness, food, and nutrition. PHA helped us to create a framework that has been instrumental to our achievement of eleven campus commitments. Our campus support team has ensured free water is available in all dining, recreational, and educational facilities which both promotes health and hydration, and reduces waste by providing clean water for reusable bottles. GW now offers subsidized access for all faculty and staff on campus to Washington, D.C.’s extensive Capital Bikeshare program and Capital Bikeshare stations are located right on GW’s downtown campus. Our new dining vendor, Restaurant Associates, has a strong commitment to ensuring student access to nutritious food at our Mount Vernon campus and discussions are underway to help them improve signage to promote healthy choices. The GW team will continue to find innovative ways to encourage a healthy campus environment and is on track to meet all twenty-three PHA commitments by September of 2017.”
