Director, Impact & Evaluation

Background

The Partnership for a Healthier America (PHA) is the premier national nonprofit transforming the food supply in pursuit of health equity. Founded in 2010 in coordination with Former First Lady Michelle Obama’s Let’s Move! Initiative, PHA seeks partnerships that have the greatest impact on reducing health disparities and develops evidence-based, scalable approaches that drive equity-focused, systemic changes across entire sectors. Over ten years, we have partnered with more than 400 corporations, convenience store chains, hospitals, early childhood education centers, food banks, and SNAP-Ed implementing agencies, among others, in pursuit of our vision that all children grow up healthy and free from obesity, diabetes, heart disease, and other chronic conditions.

In response to COVID-19, PHA launched two new signature programs, one to increase long-term demand for produce and another to increase demand for healthy meals prepared at home. These programs complement PHA’s longstanding efforts to increase the supply of affordable, healthy foods available for sale in the marketplace and are poised to benefit from the findings from robust, third-party evaluation in 2022.

Your Role

PHA is seeking an experienced, passionate, results-oriented professional to shape and grow the organization. This position will direct and oversee data systems for our programs, individual donors, and impact evaluation efforts, and will report to the Senior Vice President, Strategic Initiatives.

The Director, Impact & Evaluation will lead high level strategies to leverage data collection and analysis across programs and initiatives, furthering PHA’s ability to meet its mission and enabling innovation. S/he will work with the leadership and staff to improve the efficacy of existing efforts while developing key relationships with external evaluators and other influential stakeholders to deepen awareness of PHA’s work and maximize new opportunities.

The position will join a highly motivated PHA team that is based across the country, drawing from their own personal experiences as well as professional and academic expertise to drive food systems change.

Responsibilities include:

  • Create and implement a robust data, evaluation, and impact strategy that aligns programs, initiatives, and strategic partnerships; sets goals and key performance indicators; and deepens internal capacity for data collection and analysis and external awareness of learnings.

  • Make recommendations to maximize the utility of PHA’s systems that capture data, including donor data, and visualize impact to drive organizational improvement and growth.

  • Ensure that data, research, and community feedback inform the design, implementation, and sustainability of new programs, partnerships, and initiatives.

  • Manage existing and develop new research and evaluation relationships. Leverage existing relationships with private sector partners to position impact data to drive sustained changes in the marketplace.

  • Establish effective and efficient data management processes and leverage systems to monitor ongoing efforts among the broader team.

  • Analyze, distill, and present information in clear, compelling messaging for internal and external use.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Desired Qualifications and Experience:

  • A minimum of 7 years of relevant experience. Administrator-level experience with data collection tools and CRM platforms (i.e. Salesforce, Experience Cloud, and Tableau) required. Experience in or knowledge of GIS systems is a plus.

  • Results oriented with a track record of success and exceptional problem-solving skills. Able to turn challenges into opportunities and clearly and succinctly define problems and solutions and synthesize data.

  • Innovative thinker who is relentlessly seeking new and better solutions and opportunities for PHA to harness data to create change.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to form new relationships and work effectively and collaboratively with colleagues at all levels.

  • Self-directed with strong organizational skills, including the ability to plan, coordinate and prioritize multiple projects autonomously under tight deadlines.

  • Passion for PHA’s work transforming the food system in pursuit of health equity.
